TOWN OF RED RIVER'S COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT RECEIVES STATE SUPPORT

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO – Town of Red River has been accepted to the New Mexico Main Street’s Frontier & Native American Communities Initiative program. As a part of the seven selected communities across the state, the Town will receive New Mexico Main Street’s professional services and technical assistance to implement its community economic development project.

Town of Red River To Conduct Business Incubator Feasibility Study 

Town of Red River Office of Economic Development & Tourism in partnership with the New Mexico Economic Development Department, Small Business Development Center at UNM-Taos and Red River Chamber of Commerce is conducting the feasibility study for the creation of a business incubator. 

This step is vitally important to identifying potential clients for a new incubator, the availability of resources available for the clients, obstacles to the incubator’s success as well as to provide an implementation plan for the incubator development. 

Town of Red River Is Accepting Applications for FY23/24 Lodger's Tax Special Event Funding Grant

The Town of Red River is accepting proposals for the use of lodger’s tax funds for special events for the time period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

RED RIVER TO KICK OFF WINTER SEASON

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO – Red River is known across the country as “The Ski Town of the Southwest.”  The Red River Ski & Summer Area opens for business the day before Thanksgiving every year to downhill skiers and snowboarders ready for fresh snow.  Just a short walk from anywhere in town, the Red River Ski & Summer Area is a favorite for people wishing to spend more time on the mountain and no time on a shuttle.  Many lodges are available with “ski in, ski out” accommodations, and two of the main lifts leave from the center of town.  To ensure that winter sports are available regardless of the weather, the Red River Ski & Summer Area is the snowmaking leader in the Southern Rocky Mountains.

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO – Town of Red River has won the Best Digital Campaign in the State of New Mexico awarded by the New Mexico Hospitality Association.

Small Business Saturday in Red River

Town of Red River is joining the national movement known as Small Business Saturday that encourages people to Shop Small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses. Small Business Saturday continues to be an annual holiday shopping tradition — just one part of the larger Shop Small Movement that supports small businesses every day and everywhere. This event is held during the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, it will be on November 26, 2022.

Flu Vaccination Clinic

The Taos Public Health Office will be conducting a Flu vaccination clinic for individuals ages 6 months and older.

Cost: No cost to individuals. We Will vaccinate regardless of insurance status.

Carson National Forest To Reopen This Friday

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO – Carson National Forest administration has announced today, June 23, 2022 that the forest is re-opening for the public access  and local fire restrictions will be rescinded tomorrow, June 24, 2022 starting 8:00 am.

Broadway Play Is Coming to Red River

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO Theater is coming back to Red River this weekend after a long hiatus. The Rail Haus at the Alpine Lodge is hosting the Pavement Ends Studios’ Production The One-Act Play that Goes Wrong at their historic venue. Alpine Lodge and KWK Events have contracted the award-winning group out of Alva, OK to bring this incredible theatrical performance to this culturally rich weekend in Red River in addition to the Art & Wine Festival hosted by the Red River Chamber of Commerce.

40TH ANNUAL RED RIVER MEMORIAL DAY MOTORCYCLE RALLY KICKS OFF IN RED RIVER

RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO – As the motorcycles begin rolling into Red River and the Enchanted Circle region, Town of Red River officials have been working hard getting ready for this weekend. “Preparations for this event have been on-going since March to assure that everything is in place for visitors and residents to have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Weekend,” says Red River Town Marshal, James Johnson.

Johnson, who became Red River’s Town Marshal last year, feels confident about the cooperation between agencies equating to a safer event for everyone. “U.S. Forest Service and local and state public safety and emergency response officials have combined efforts to ensure the current fire restrictions orders are being followers by all visitors and residents alike,” says Johnson. “This a great weekend for Red River, so we encourage everybody to have a good time, obey the current protocols, and be safe.”

Town of Red River To Implement Fire Restrictions

Due to the long-term drought conditions and rapidly escalating fire danger in the Red River area, Town of Red River has made a decision to implement fire restrictions within the town boundaries.

Hiking Trail Closure Alert:

 

Please be aware that the US Forest Service will close portions of the Bull of the Woods, Lost Lake, Williams Lake and Wheeler Peak trails Friday, August 20 through Thursday, August 26 for local community traditional purposes. The trails will reopen for public use on Friday August 27. For more information please visit the Carson National Forest website.

Town of Red River Statement on Wildfire

On April 29, 2021, authorities were notified of a wildfire near Columbine Canyon Campground. Due to the quick response of emergency management services including the Town of Red River Fire Department, Red River Marshal’s Office, Questa Fire and EMS, Taos County Sheriff’s Office, Wheeler Peak Fire Department, and Carson National Forest, the fire was contained quickly. All road closures should be lifted soon.

COVID-19 Testing

The Air National Guard and the NM Department of Health are providing FREE Covid-19 testing on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Red River Conference Center.
